Dining Room
The Kirk family was having dinner in this room one night in 1861 when word came that the Yankees were in Bluffton. They had to pack up what they could and take refuge in nearby Grahamville till the end of the war. Caroline died in Grahamville in 1864, having never returned to her beautiful and beloved home...../ Table is 1850...../ Heart of pine floor in this room is original to the house and survived the fire with just minimal charing...../ Mantel also survived the fire with just minimal charing...../ Door in background leads to the conservatory; door to the left beyond mantel leads to Gentlemen's Room...../ Painting above the mantel is a watercolor of Rose Hill, commissioned for that spot...../
