Details of Lilla Kirk furniture

There are two chairs with flame stitch pattern coverings. These chairs are part of a set of furniture, all with a carved horseshoe surrounding a rose on top back. Donated by Mrs. Cynthia Glendinning, great granddaughter of Lilla Kirk. They are Aesthetic (Victorian) style with flame stitch pattern coverings and date to the 1870s/1880s. Mrs. Cynthia Glendinning & her husband presently live in the Rose Hill Plantation Equestrian community and the chairs belonged to her great grandmother Lilla Kirk (Dr. James Kirk's daughter). Dr. James Kirk was the son of James Brown Kirk and brother of Caroline Kirk (and cousin of Dr. John Kirk).
