Kirk's Table

This small table is one of the original pieces of furniture in the house during the time of Dr. John and Caroline Kirk (1850's). A few years ago a Kirk family descendant contacted Bluffton Historic Preservation Society with this 1850s table that had been in this house during the brief time that the Kirk family lived here. The Whites bought this table from them for it to always remain in this house. The upper portion folds out and down to make a flat "card table" sized top. On the table is an antique cigar box that is topped with James Kirk's signet ring and the accompaning letter (2007) from William John Kirk (direct descendant of James Kirk and great, great grandson of Dr. John and Caroline Kirk). He donated this heirloom as a birthday present for Robin White. In the frame are original land deeds donated in 2007 by Kathryn Elizabeth Kirk (sister of William John Kirk and also great, great granddaughter of Dr. John and Caroline Kirk). The photographs on the table are of: James Kirk, Caroline Kirk, Dr. John Kirk, William "Willie" Kirk, Emily Kirk and Clarence Kirk.
